CAVU Aerospace UK's UHF-TM
Ensuring Uninterrupted Satellite Communication
In February 2017, the CAVU Aerospace UK UHF-TM, a Double Redundant UHF Telemetry Transmitter, was successfully integrated into its second satellite mission. The UHF-TM’s adaptable design and robust reliability make it a cornerstone for maintaining consistent and secure data transmission in the challenging environment of space.
Adaptable Data Transmission for Mission Optimization
The UHF-TM’s variable data rate transmission, ranging from 1200 bps to 115000 bps, allows for mission-specific optimization, balancing data throughput and power consumption. Its double redundancy system ensures uninterrupted operation, even in the face of component failure, a critical feature for long-duration space missions.
Double Redundancy for Unwavering Reliability
Advanced capabilities such as automatic frequency control, real-time error correction, and adaptive power management further contribute to the UHF-TM’s reliability and efficiency. The transmitter’s core, an Actel ProASIC3 flash-based FPGA, provides Single Event Upset (SEU) immunity, safeguarding against the harsh radiation environment of space. The UHF-TM’s Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technology allows for reprogramming and updates even after deployment, ensuring adaptability to evolving mission needs.
The UHF-TM’s successful integration into multiple satellite missions, coupled with its rigorous testing and proven performance, solidifies its position as a trusted telemetry solution for critical space operations.
