CAVU Aerospace UK Delivers PDU-C1 and PDU-C2

Powering Critical Satellite Missions

In May 2017, CAVU Aerospace UK successfully delivered two state-of-the-art Power Distribution Units (PDUs), the PDU-C1 and PDU-C2, for a critical satellite mission. These PDUs were meticulously engineered to efficiently manage the power requirements of the satellite’s communication systems, onboard computer (OBC), and control interfaces.

Double Redundancy for Uninterrupted Operation

The PDU-C1 and PDU-C2 are equipped with double-redundant power converters and switching mechanisms, ensuring uninterrupted power delivery even in the face of component failure. This redundancy is paramount for maintaining the operational integrity of critical satellite systems throughout the mission. Each PDU boasts a high power delivery capacity of up to 100W, supporting the diverse needs of various satellite subsystems.

Advanced Control and Protection Mechanisms

Advanced control and protection mechanisms, including sophisticated Local Control Modules (LCMs) and protective circuits, safeguard the satellite’s sensitive electronics from potential damage due to power surges or fluctuations. The PDU-C1 is specifically tailored to power the satellite’s communication systems, while the PDU-C2 focuses on the OBC and control interfaces, ensuring seamless operation and efficient power management.

Rigorous Testing for Space Readiness

Both PDUs underwent rigorous testing, including thermal, vibration, and radiation exposure, to validate their performance and durability in the harsh conditions of space. The successful deployment of the PDU-C1 and PDU-C2 in this satellite mission highlights CAVU Aerospace UK’s dedication to delivering high-reliability power solutions that meet the stringent demands of space exploration. These Power Distribution Units represent a significant achievement, showcasing our expertise in designing and manufacturing robust power management systems for complex satellite missions.
