CAVU Aerospace UK's VHF-TC: The Sentinel of Satellite Control
In March 2017, the CAVU Aerospace UK VHF-TC, a Double Redundant VHF Telecommand Receiver, was successfully integrated into a critical satellite mission. The VHF-TC’s unwavering reliability and energy efficiency make it the ideal solution for ensuring consistent and secure telecommand reception, even in the demanding environment of space.
The VHF-TC’s double redundancy architecture provides an extra layer of assurance, guaranteeing that commands from ground stations are received and executed flawlessly, even if a component encounters a fault. This redundancy is paramount for maintaining control over the satellite, especially during long-duration missions or those operating in challenging environments.

Energy Efficiency for Long-Duration Missions
Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the VHF-TC boasts low power consumption, a crucial factor for space missions with limited power resources. The receiver’s robust design incorporates error detection and correction mechanisms, ensuring accurate command reception even in the presence of interference or signal degradation.
At the heart of the VHF-TC lies an Actel ProASIC3 flash-based FPGA, renowned for its Single Event Upset (SEU) immunity. This technology fortifies the VHF-TC against cosmic radiation, a constant challenge in space, ensuring consistent performance throughout the mission’s lifespan.
The VHF-TC’s successful integration into two satellite missions untill this day, coupled with its rigorous testing and proven performance, solidifies its position as an indispensable component for maintaining control over satellite operations. It stands as a testament to CAVU Aerospace UK’s dedication to delivering high-reliability communication solutions that empower mission success.
